Singer Paulina Rubio Accused of Assaulting Assistant

Paulina Rubio is a singer who is particularly famous in Mexico. Recently, she was faced with a $250,000 lawsuit by a former assistant who says that she assaulted him in a Miami airport. According to the reports on TMZ, Felipe Restrepo Betancur was hired to assist Rubio in August and worked for her up until he handed in his resignation last week. He claims that Rubio got physically violent with him when he was unable to secure first class tickets for her on a flight from Miami, Florida back to Mexico. She supposedly became infuriated when she discovered that Betancur had booked her flight in coach instead.

According to his lawsuit, the pop star assaulted him when they were on the plane by punching, kicking, and slapping him. Supposedly she also threw objects at him and caused him to suffer contusions and abrasions on his arms and legs. Betancur says that he has also suffered emotional trauma from the incident. He now wants to gain damages. If the police say fit, they would also have the right to prosecute Rubio for assault. It is not clear whether or not Rubio will be tried criminally for the attack.

Her attorney insists that the entire incident is fabricated, and says that there is no one on the flight who can testify to the attack. Rubio’s attorney also argues that Betancur did not start the lawsuit until after he quit working for Ms. Rubio. Rubio’s attitude has gotten the best of her in the past, and she was previously arrested for yelling at Miami police officers after she was involved in a car accident. The incident was caught on tape. Rubio has also been arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice and refusal to obey law enforcement.
